Administrative HistoryCrewe and District's Chamber of Trade and Commerce was established in 1935. The Chamber's function was to consider and promote plans and schemes calculated to improve and secure the trading and business interests of the town and its neighbourhood. At local level, the chamber was concerned with town planning, shopping facilities, the environment, local public services and local expenditure. It had close links with the local authority (Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council) and acted as the intermediary between the local business community and the council.

In 1990, membership extended to include manufacturers and service industries. The name changed to 'Crewe Business Chamber' to reflect this change. In 1993 the 'One Stop Shop' partnership was established between a number of organisations (South and East Cheshire TEC, Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council, 'Cheshire County Council and SCOPE), to offer business support services under the Business Link brand. The consortium resulted in the much-enlarged Crewe and Nantwich Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise. The old Crewe Chamber took on the representational role of the new Chamber under the name Crewe Business Forum. The Nantwich Business Forum also joined the new Chamber. In 1998, it was decided that the Crewe Business Forum was no longer viable and the President's Jewel was presented to the Chairman of the Crewe and Nantwich Chamber.
